This year marks 50 years of the BMW Motorsport subsidiary. To commemorate the anniversary, the German car manufacturer revisits its original emblem as well as premiering its latest We Are M short film.

All models with a production date from March 2022 will feature the classic BMW Motorsport logo, boasting shifted semicircles that made its debut appearance in 1973. As well as emblems, 50 M paint finishes will be offered on selected cars such as “Dakar Yellow”, “Fire Orange”, “Daytona Violet”, “Macao Blue”, “Imola Red” and “Frozen Marina Bay Blue” which all represent various eras of the brand’s history.

With more information yet to be released, BMW’s first electric high-performance M model is also due to launch in the near future as well as a special limited-edition iteration of the M4 Coupé series.

To celebrate this milestone, the We Are M campaign film is an ode to the togetherness of the M community. Piecing archival behind-the-scenes footage of Andy Warhol’s 1979 custom BMW M1 art car with fan-shot images, the inspirational visuals honor the subsidiary’s iconic journey and look to an innovative future.
