With large seven-seaters such as the Buick GL8 ubiquitous in dense Chinese megacities, Audi‘s new Urbansphere concept arrives to fill that particular niche, serving as a luxurious “lounge on wheels, mobile office, and third living space during the time spent in traffic.” The new minivan concept offers the most interior space of any Audi vehicle in existence with 5.8 feet of headroom along with a host of state-of-the-art technology features and a striking next-gen design.

Designed from the inside out, the Audi Urbansphere offers first-class comfort with four individual seats in two rows featuring a wide range of adjustment options including a tilt of up to 60 degrees and integrated leg rests. The seats also have their own sound zone with speakers in the headrest areas and can swivel around to face each other. Arriving with autonomous driving capabilities, the steering wheel, pedals, and conventional dashboard can be retracted.

Additional interior highlights include a large-format “cinema screen” that allows for split-screen, a stress detection function that uses facial scans and voice analysis to offer personalized suggestions for relaxation, a water dispenser with glass storage, and VR glasses in the armrests for different infotainment options.

Exteriors feature a closed-off glowing grill similar to that of the new Q4 e-tron, a swept-back windshield, expansive glass roof, 24-inch six double-spoke wheels, and distinct illuminated surfaces. Two electric motors deliver a total output of 396 horsepower and 800-volt charging technology enables a 5 to 80 percent charge time of fewer than 25 minutes with a total range of 466 miles.

Take a first look at the Urbansphere concept above, and more updates to arrive in the coming months.
