One of the primary brands leading adidas‘ sustainability initiatives is Parley for the Oceans, a nonprofit organization committed to finding solutions to ocean plastic pollution through sustainable design. As part of a longstanding partnership, the duo introduces its latest offering, a special take on the ZX 8000 archival runners. Previously featured in a Kawasaki motorbike-inspired iteration, the adidas ZX 8000 arrives this time in Parley’s high-performance yarn which contains at least 50% Parley Ocean Plastic, blending hues of white, sail, cream, and black.

Grooved eyestay webbing is made from 100% ocean plastic from gill nets, the sock liner is made from soft recycled ORTHOLITE, and the quarter webbing and stripes consist of intercepted plastics from the Dominican Republic. Insoles are found in cork and cream-toned Torsion soles below complete the sustainable design.

Take an official look at the adidas ZX 8000 Parley above, and expect the pairs to arrive on May 3 at the adidas’ website and select retailers for $160 USD.

Elsewhere in footwear, New Balance 2002R arrives in “Light Cream/Purple” blend.
