Take An Official Look at the Upcoming Social Status x Nike Air Penny 2 Release

Social Status continues to celebrate Penny Hardaway with the release of another collaborative signature model.
Coming off the release of the Air Max Penny 1, this new silhouette takes us back to 1996 to the Air Penny 2 model but updates some of the colors to pay homage to North Carolina — after all, James Whitner did open the first Social Status in Charlotte.
The shoe is reminiscent of the old days but does update the panels with tones and shades informed by Social Status’ past successful uses of beige and neutral tones. Two colorways will be released. First, a lighter colorway of cream, University Blue, white, and 3M piping, while the other pair, a darker makeup of black, white, University Blue as well as the 3M trim.
Both pairs see co-branding at the side, multiple lace color options, and a metal Air Penny 2 shoe tag. Making this extra special is the presentation. These sneakers will come packed in a blister pack as a nod to one of the most badass mascots in Nike history — the snippy, Chris Rock-voiced Lil Penny puppet.
There’s no release date or pricing just yet, but this is good news for fans of Anfernee Hardaway.
