We’re only three months into 2022, yet Birkenstock has already showcased upcoming collaborations from Dior while simultaneously maintaining its hold on the cozy boy footwear market, and now it’s set for another big moment as it gears up for the release of its Manolo Blahnik collaboration. Taking the Arizona and Boston silhouettes, Manolo Blahnik channels its signature opulent energy and gives the pairs regal makeovers fit for any fan of the early 2000s à la Sex and the City, Moulin Rouge!, and The Devil Wears Prada.

However, because the shoes are Birkenstocks at their core, the collaboration comes together as the perfect pair for that indoor-outdoor crossover for all. Manolo Blahnik’s nonpareil flair adorns six iterations split between both styles in either black smooth leather, fuchsia velvet, or blue velvet, with the crystal embellishments taking center stage on the defining areas of the clogs and sandals.

Arizona pairs are lined with microfiber French piping and keep their anatomically shaped cork footbed, combining luxury with utility once more, while the Boston clog gets the same treatment but is somehow even more stylish, perhaps because this offering only has one crystal flair and wears the lush velvet better on its closed-toe design, not forgetting that smooth black leather suits the traditional style of course.

Regardless, Manolo Blahnik’s take on these two Birkenstock staples is going to go down in the brand’s history books of great collaborations. Speaking on the partnership, Blahnik said, “Birkenstocks have been in my wardrobe since the very beginning (of time) — I have loved and worn mine for many years. I am thrilled that we have been able to collaborate, fusing the Manolo Blahnik aesthetic with the everyday comfort of Birkenstocks is simply wonderful.” Birkenstock CEO Oliver Reichert added, “We are delighted to collaborate with Manolo Blahnik, whose unrivaled craftsmanship has long set the bar for shoemaking. This is a unique collection, fusing our trademark designs with the flair of Manolo Blahnik, to create pieces that embrace a bold and directional aesthetic that takes both to a new level.”

The drop is coming in two parts, with the first collection releasing on March 24 at all Manolo Blahnik locations, on the brand’s site, and on Birkenstock’s website, as well as at select retailers worldwide. The second collection is set to drop in June.

In other news, Balenciaga has dropped its new Crocs Pool Slide.
