In commemoration of the release, Harajuku-based boutique GR8 is holding a one-day “Ikebana Workshop” hosted by Big Love Records founder, GR8 coordinator, and Ikebana Sogetsu (Japanese floral art) master Haruka Hirata.
The idea of “beautiful imperfections” found in Japanese crafts was the inspiration behind the upcoming Nike Air Max 1 Premium, and GR8 has produced an original movie detailing Hirata’s journey and her relationship with the traditional art of Kintsugi, the practice of transforming broken pieces into a new object. The story unfolds in 8 different scenes as she searches for her lost identity.
Nike’ Air Max 1 “Premium” will be released on March 26 across select regions in Asia and Latin America. The latest playlist Hirata selected for GR8 can be found below.
Elsewhere in footwear, Carhartt WIP and Converse CONS reunite for workwear-inspired skate shoes.
