Acne Studios Plays With Distortion on New Lace-Up Sneaker
Branding also takes center stage.

Acne Studios isn’t afraid of dropping a daring footwear style — take a look at these patchwork boots or the Bolzter if you need reminding. Now, the Stockholm stalwart has released its new lace-up sneaker, making a case for distortion.
Available in “White/Off White” or “Black/Gray,” the pairs are comprised of a suede upper split between two tones of paneling, looking as if the contrasting layers support the base piece. For example, the front quarter stems from the sole unit and hooks into the elongated eyelets that run along the mid-panel, while the tongue freely overlaps the base.
Elsewhere, perforations are added to the mid-panel, while the oversized tongue has been adorned with cursive Acne Studios embroidery running underneath the busy array of laces. Things get more unusual as you move down the sneaker, where an embossed heel tab sits atop a heel cap, leading the eye to the sole unit.
While it may look like cork, the sole unit is actually made from rubber and is lined with an outsole comprised of small dots to add traction.
Take a look at the new Acne Studios sneaker above, and pick up both pairs now from the brand’s website for $560 USD.
