Dominic Calvert-Lewin Shares a Lesson on Defining Your Personal Style

Swapping his pitch tricks for fashion tips, this isn’t the first time that Calvert-Lewin has dipped his toes into the world of experimental styling. Expanding on his first Braun campaign which sees the footballer experiment with and redesign his facial style, Calvert-Lewin now turns his attention to perfecting the complete look, from facial hair-style to attire. “Grooming goes hand-in-hand with my style and fashion,” he says. “Depending on what I’m wearing, it might dictate how I style my beard. My facial hair is the finishing touch if you like, but the whole piece is an extension of my personality”. Adding, “Sometimes when I’m a bit daring not everybody likes it, but it kind of spurs me on to experiment even more”.
Dressed in a vivid, Louis Vuitton magenta three-piece suit with his facial hair shaved off, Calvert-Lewin shares a taste of what his bolder styling choices may look like. He lends his inspiration to films and clean-cut looks from a bygone era of smart dressing, saying, “I see how people dress from a different time. I like to just take inspiration from everywhere and mold that into what I like to wear now.” He notes the Rat Pack and particularly Sammy Davis Jr, as well as streetwear-facing A$AP Rocky among his array of slick style icons.
“I still always try and look fresh. Even if it’s a training day because I take pride in my appearance and my grooming routine is a key part of this.”
With this fresh take on sartorial elegance, the footballer strikes a perfect balance between styling and grooming looks. He explains, “I got the curls back out to balance the smooth shave. But if I still had my beard, I want to show off the sharp angles, I might tie my hair up. You want to look smart.”
But he reminds us that his assiduous approach to grooming and looking good spans all areas of his life, “For a match day, I’ll make sure my hair is slicked back, my beard is trimmed nice – it’s that look good, feel good.” With the flexible Braun Series 7 in hand, he adds his final styling tip, “It’s important you’ve got the right product to help you execute the style you want to go for.
