Nigel Cabourn and Mihara Yasuhiro Reimagine The Classic Bowling Shoe
Available in three summer-ready iterations.
Nigel Cabourn’s ongoing collaboration with cult Japanese designer Mihara Yasuhiro continues this season with the release of the pair’s New Bowling Shoes.
A prime example of the pair’s effortless ability to curate historical details and bring them into the modern day with expert craftsmanship and design, the New Bowling Shoe is inspired by one of Cabourn’s favorite Mihara silhouettes, where he famously dissected a retro basketball sneaker.
What might resemble a classic cotton canvas rubber plimsoll from the rear transforms into a pigment-coated cow leather bowling-style shoe head on, which is then fused together with a striking continuous sole.
As has been the case in previous collaborations, branding is kept subtle with labels on the tongue and side of the sneaker. Such is Cabourn’s penchant for tying his laces around his ankles too, each shoe features a back loop detailed with an embroidered arrow to thread the laces through to achieve the same look.
Arriving in three colorways, the Nigel Cabourn x Mihara Yasuhiro New Bowling Shoes are available to buy now from the former’s online webstore, retailing at £199 (approximately $260 USD).
