The Cana One Molecular Drinks Printer Can Make Thousands of Beverages
Featuring “novel microfluidic liquid dispense technology.”
Emerging beverage technology name Cana has now unveiled what it is calling the world’s first “molecular beverage printer.”
Designed to fit onto any kitchen countertop, the “Cana One” utilizes flavor, sugar and spirits cartridges and CO2 to mix thousands of different beverages. Users will be able to select juice, soft drinks, coffee options, sports drinks, wine and even cocktails from the device’s touchscreen. Developed through three years of scientists studying popular beverages at a molecular level over the last three years, Cana isolated the trace compounds behind familiar flavors and aromas to create an extensive list of beverage offerings with its cartridges.
Cana will automatically replace cartridges, which can reportedly last around a month) at no cost. But drinks from the machine are dispensed on a per-drink basis, ranging between $0.29 and $3 USD.
The Cana one features a “novel microfluidic liquid dispense technology” and allows users to customize levels of alcohol, caffeine and sugar. It is interesting to note that the device can reduce water waste needed to make beverages traditionally, along with limiting the waste and emissions associated with the traditional packaging of beverages.
Priced at $499 USD for the first 10,000 orders and $799 for those after, the Cana One is now available for pre-order on Cana’s website with shipping expected for early 2023.
