Ever since crypto mining has proliferated, graphics card prices have soared significantly, and the global chip shortage experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic only served to make matters worse, with scalpers listing GPU prices online for exorbitant prices. Thankfully, ASUS has now claimed that its RTX graphics cards will soon be seeing a price drop of up to 25% at retail.

In a new press release from the tech company, it explained that the upcoming price reductions are due to the lifting of a trade tariff that was first signed by the Trump administration to impose a 25% tax on certain Chinese imports including GPUs. The Office of the United States Trade Representative announced on March 23 that there’ll be a new exemption for the tariff that will last through December 31, and ASUS expects to lower the price tag for its RTX 30-series graphics cards when the exemption comes into place on April 1. The changes will affect the entire lineup, including the GeForce RTX 3050, RTX 3060, RTX 3070, RTX 3080 and RTX 3090. However, it also noted that prices will be dropping by up to 25%, meaning not every model will see such a big decline.

If you’re still looking to get your hands on one of the newer GPUs, make sure to be on the lookout for when ASUS lowers its prices on April 1.

Elsewhere in tech, Intel has launched its new NUC 12 Extreme Kit for dedicated gamers.
