MM6 Maison Margiela FW22 Epitomizes Transitional Design
Illustrating the subtle art of dressing.
For the Fall/Winter 2022 season, MM6 Maison Margiela wants to exalt the simple beauty that comes from dressing. Whether it be heading to the office or navigating the city, there’s a subtle art that stems from dressing and the new collection from Margiela’s diffusion line puts this art on center stage.
With an elevated utilitarian aesthetic, the collection takes form in boxy suiting with strong shoulders, seamless wool peacoats with exaggerated peak lapels and boomerang-slung sleeves, relaxed and slim-fit pants, sculptural outerwear and more. By blending tailored, contemporary, sportswear and avant-garde styles, the collection epitomizes transitional design. The array of garments come to life in a range of leather, wool, cotton and nylon fabrics – washed in shades of sea moss green, peach, slate gray, black, dusty pink, cerulean blue and brown.
From a cinched emerald green double-breasted leather blazer to a boxy, yet relaxed fit dusty pink suit, tailoring remains a collection highlight. Other standout pieces include outerwear garments like nylon bomber jackets with ruffle and fur detailing, an oversized wool and leather varsity jacket, double-breasted overcoats and oversized peacoats. The moody silhouettes of the collection are enhanced by colorful sneakers in collaboration with Salomon, lug-sole running shoes and MM6’s heel ankle boot.
