Hublot has joined forces with digital asset platform Ledger, to create a Big Bang Unico chronograph with an exclusive accompanying crypto hardware wallet.

The 42mm black ceramic Hublot Big Bang Unico Ledger also features a bezel made from Electrum, an alloy of gold and silver that was used to mint coins 2,500 years ago, bringing together the most ancient and most modern currencies in a single product.

Here, Hublot has used a 50/50 blend of the two metals, resulting in a stainless version of the metal, with the Latin motto “Vires in Numeris” — “or strength in numbers” — stamped around the visible edge of the bezel.

“Having served as the Timekeeping Partner of January’s Crypto Finance Conference 2022 in St. Moritz, it brings me great pleasure to introduce today a watch that fuses together the many tantalizing possibilities that link high-end crypto and state-of-the-art mechanical watchmaking. I firmly believe this is the year when the watch industry will come to embrace crypto currency.” says Hublot CEO Ricardo Guadelupe.

The 50-piece individually numbered limited edition watch will be presented with a Ledger & Hublot Nano X cryptocurrency hardware wallet that will only be made available with the watch capable of “safely encrypting, securing, managing and growing your crypto assets.”

Both elements are contained within a smoked black sapphire crystal presentation box. The Big Bang Unico Ledger is available now via Ledger, priced $28,300 USD.

Elsewhere in watches, HYPEBEAST takes a look at how the blockchain is influencing the watch industry.
