Awich to Host a Pop-Up in Jingūmae, Tokyo Featuring Awich x VERDY x BlackEyePatch Collab
The collection commemorates the Japanese rapper’s first “Welcome to the Queendom at Nippon Budokan” performance.

Awich, BlackEyePatch and VERDY have joined forces on a new merch collection, commemorating the Japanese rapper’s first performance at “Welcome to the Queendom at Nippon Budokan.”
Awich is a self-proclaimed badass from Okinawa, Japan, an ingenious island, formally known as the Ryukyu Kingdom, colonized by Meiji, Japan, in 1609. Awich speaks of this history as a launching pad for her sharp-tongued poetry. The rapper learned to rhyme in English after picking up a CD of Tupac’s All Eyez on Me at a local music store and recounts her early days as a boisterous wordsmith in her childhood home. With U.S. military bases spread throughout Okinawa, Awich was introduced to American culture throughout her adolescence and later moved to the states at 19, studying in Atlanta.
Last year, Awich announced her first performance at “Welcome to the Queendom at Nippon Budokan,” enlisting VERDY and BlackEyePatch to develop a custom merch collection centered around her 2007 debut album, Asian Wish Child. The striking photography, directed by Awich, features her first-born daughter Toyomi Jah’mira, repping the two-piece collection of hoodies and basic tees.

Kissed by blue light against a blood-orange backdrop, the mother-and-daughter duo strikes a pose or two, showcasing the BlackEyePatch font superimposed atop cursive typography of Awich’s debut album. VERDY adds white embroidered Kanji at the hood, and the T-shirt features a ribbed crew neck with patchwork typography on the front breast panel. The hoodie will retail for ¥17,000 yen (approximately $150 USD), and the T-shirt ¥7,000 yen ($61 USD).
A pop-up in the Jingūmae district in Tokyo, Japan, will house the collection, held on March 5 through March 6. The event is exclusive to fans who purchased pre-sale tickets in a lottery and encourages consumers to enter early for access. Fans can shop VIP tickets online at e+.
