Starter Taps Detroit Designer Ty Mopkins For Limited Edition Holiday Collection

American sportswear brand Starter teams up once again with Detroit streetwear designer Ty Mopkins for a limited edition capsule for the holidays. Mopkins is known in the Motor City for his nostalgic ‘90s’ designs displayed on Starter apparel. As someone who champions creativity and individuality, Mopkins brings a sense of heritage and pride to the city in every garment he crafts, especially now with his partnership with Starter. The most notable capsule has been his Black History month Starter Jacket collection last year with the signature jackets sporting black, yellow, red and green – significant colors for the black community.

Highlighted in this special edition holiday collection is two limited styles of the signature Starter satin jackets paired with the label’s LFS-1 sneaker model. The range boasts a holiday inspired color palette of red and white, with the silhouette displaying a white body and red sleeves. Each limited-edition coat features a selection of NBA, MLB and NFL teams insignia crafted from patent leather. The Starter LFS-1 shoe is a heritage silhouette from the American sports brand, receiving a festive upgrade from Mopkins. The sneakers are also designed with matching red and white colorways of the jacket and are also constructed from patent leather. Extra laces for the kicks come in a Santa Clause-esque red sack for a holiday upgrade.

Rounding out the collection is a Footlocker exclusive “Krisp Kringle” capsule featuring all-red satin Starter x Ty Mopkins jackets. The pieces feature select MLB teams with their insignia on the front and Christmas inspired typography on the back. Placed on the quilted inside of the coat is Starter and Ty Mopkins Exclusive patches. “We wanted to bring some excitement to retail with this Christmas release and give our supporters something different in the market like we have done so many times before with special releases.” Ty Mopkins explained.
