Palace and Umbro Reconnect to Celebrate the Football Season
Palace rejoins its first collaborator with a football-oriented capsule.
A busy winter already for Palace, major collaborations with the likes of Gucci and Yohji Yamamoto’s Y-3 have once again sprung the cheeky skate brand to the forefront of streetwear. Now, the British blokes take a moment to look back on their history with a collaborative capsule with Umbro. Ten years ago the duo came together as Palace’s first official collaboration, a starting point for the brand that has since connected with an expansive list of collaborators.
Focusing on the current football season that is ready to take on the World Cup, a drill top, shorts and classic football tops have been outfitted in a collaborative arrangement. Turning back to the ’90s, the drill top favors a paneled look that features a rib insert at the neckline, an elasticated waist and co-branding throughout. The top carries a “Dark Navy/Blue Heaven” colorway and is accompanied by matching shorts in the collection. As for the football tops, five wavy colorways bear a cracked ice jacquard pattern paired with a digital print. Sleeve cuffs are finished with a Palace branded tape while the contrast collar’s tip utilizes two colors with a ticking stripe. Color options for the ’90s football jersey-inspired tops include “Dahlia Purple,” “Vermillion,” “Geranium Pink,” “Neutral Grey” and “Florida Keys.”
The collaborative Palace x Umbro drop takes place during Palace’s Week 7 of Winter 22. Launch is set for both in-store and online releases across the world, beginning in Europe on November 18 at 11am GMT. Following this, a US launch lands on shelves at 11am EST. Lastly, it’ll be available in Japan on November 19 at 11am JST on the Palace Japan webstore and on the official “Palace_Skateboards” WeChat store on November 19 at 11am CST.
