In a year of celebrations for 50-year-old company Nike, it has looked back to its pioneering sneakers throughout 2022 as iconic pairs such as Bruce Kilgore’s Air Force 1 celebrate their anniversaries. Another silhouette that continues to shine is the Japanese bullet train-inspired Air Max 97. Having turned 25 this year, the Air Max 97 has found itself in a variety of colorways with fan favorites such as the “Silver Bullet” making a return. Now, it looks to close out the year with yet another launch, this time in a monochromatic “Light Silver” look.

Again, Nike employs the Air Max 97’s layered upper strategically, slipping from one shade to another with ease. The mixed material build begins with suede and includes leather and mesh as it reaches up to its collar. 3M reflectivity makes a return on the silhouette while its titular “Light Silver” is backed by soft green hues throughout. Small Swooshes and Air Max branding appear throughout the upper with the Air-infused sole unit completing the look in additional shades of dusty green.

As of now, a release date for the Nike Air Max 97 “Light Silver” has not been disclosed by the Swoosh. It’s expected to launch in women’s sizing by the end of the year at a price of $180 USD via Nike and select retailers worldwide.

In case you missed it, Nike recently made a public statement on its methods and commitment to bot protection on the SNKRS platform.
