New Balance continues to thrive as a go-to in footwear, excelling at mixed material offerings that blend minimalist design with versatility. A key model backing this approach to sneakers has been New Balance’s 2002R. Taking on a variety of in-house colorways and collaborative projects, including the recent N.HOOLYWOOD x INVINCIBLE-designed pair, the 2002R keeps on shining.

Now, two new colorways have surfaced on the 2002R, with both favoring black and white color schemes. Beginning with the “Steel” offering, the 2002R sees itself in a grayscale presentation that balances mesh at the base with suede and leather overlays throughout. Its “N” logos arrive in a light shade while a darker gray pops up at the midfoot and tongue. As with its mostly black “Phantom” counterpart, the sole unit is packed with technology that includes both an ABZORB midsole and ABZORB SBS heel cushioning, backed by a black rubber outsole. Looking closer at the black colorway, it utilizes the same material distribution with its “N” logos outlined in a light gray.

For those looking to pick up the New Balance 2002R in “Steel” or “Phantom,” both colorways are available now via New Balance at a price of $140 USD.

Take a look at each above and be sure to check out the upcoming “Nightwatch” take on the New Balance 9060, featuring hits of green and purple throughout.
