Introducing Vitra’s Ampi, the Sleek Desktop Charging Station by LAYER
The first collaboration between LAYER and Vitra.
Presented in a discreet design, the Ampi is a fluid and compact desk accessory tailored for the modern workplace.
Brought to life by design agency LAYER and Swiss family-owned furniture company, Vitra, the Ampi boasts a softly radiused rectangular silhouette that looks both modern and professional. Smartphones sit comfortably atop the device, which is fitted with a smooth, induction charging-enabled dish. The fabric tab is intended to open the drawer slightly, allowing ease of access to a USB-C and two USB-A ports. Two main ports will be revealed when the drawer is completely open, which can be used for heavier-duty activities such as charging laptops or powering monitors.
Available in “Basic Dark” and “Soft Grey,” the Ampi is currently priced at 1,650 DKK (approximately $222 USD) on Vitra’s online store.
Elsewhere in design, let’s take a look back on Lee Broom’s design career to date.
