Dover Street Market Opens New Store in Beijing
Featuring China’s first Supreme drop.

After twelve years at Beijing’s Taikoo Li Sanlitun mall, Dover Street Market is now moving its sole outpost in China to the luxury shopping complex WF Central, located a few minutes walk from the city’s historical Forbidden City landmark. First launched out of London in 2004 by Comme des Garçons founder Rei Kawakubo and her husband Adrian Joffe, DSM later expanded to locations in Tokyo, New York, Singapore, and Beijing.
The new 3-story DSM Beijing store is said to be 40 percent larger than the previous location, operated in partnership with Hong Kong retailer I.T. Similar to DSM’s other global locations, the Beijing brick-and-mortar will hold a wide range of brands from established urban, streetwear labels to younger brands such as Post Archive Faction (PAF) and mainstays such as Rick Owens, sacai, Junya Watanabe MAN, Dries Van Noten, Celine, and Valentino. The overall concept of the store is said to be personally designed by Rei Kawakubo herself based on the concept of “beautiful chaos.” The open space allows for a versatile modular setup in which brands and installations can be quickly cycled in and out.
Notably, Supreme is currently being sold in China for the first time via DSM Beijing. The move has been a long time coming, with the skate brand registering its trademark “Supreme New York” in China back in 2020 to prevent copycats.
“The original Sanlitun was not the center of fashion retail, but rather started out as a bar street that developed into one of the city’s fashion landmarks,” said CEO of I.T China, Kenny Chan in an exclusive interview with WWD. He cites that the new location better “reflects the historical and cultural significance of the district and reflects DSM’s philosophy of choosing as many cultural places as possible in the city where the DSM is located.”
DSM Beijing is now open. Take a closer look at the location above.
