Seiko is celebrating the 55th Anniversary of Japanese television show, Ultraseven, with a limited edition Seiko 5 Sports watch.

The watch pays homage to the first Seiko 5 Sports watch that debuted in 1968 – one year after Ultraseven was first broadcast – and carries the colors and design cues of the show’s Ultra Guard task force with the words “Terrestrial Defense Force” carried on its fabric strap.

The follow-up to the iconic Ultraman, Ultraseven, follows the Ultra Guard as it seeks to defend Earth from extraterrestrial threats.

Ultraseven’s distinctive silhouette is replicated on a red-tinted glass caseback and each piece is individually numbered.

The 55th Anniversary Ultraseven x Seiko 5 Sports Limited Edition drops in January, limited to 3,400 pieces and priced £380 GBP or $410 USD.

Elsewhere in watches, cycling series L’Eroica teams up with Unimatic.
