Despite being located outside of the United Kingdom’s epicenter of fashion, Leicester-based retailer, The Business Fashion, has carved out its own place in the nation’s fashion sphere. Interestingly located in the middle of the U.K., making it easily accessible for anyone in England, TBF recently underwent a major visual and functional overhaul to further its aim of supporting artists and creatives. The redesign expresses purposeful quality design and craftsmanship that reflects the products it carries that range from the latest season offerings to grail items and exceptional furniture.

Divided into rooms for varied experiences, The Business Fashion explores artful spaces hinged on its item selection and eclectic design outlook.

The expansive 91-foot-deep lead room is marked by Daniel Arsham‘s Eroded Head of Lucille, 2019, made of hydro stone, plaster, broken glass, and quartz crystal. The piece is from the artist’s Louvre x Arsham Studios “Paris 3020” collaboration which granted him exclusive access to the museum’s important molds, to recreate iconic busts, friezes, and sculptures from classical antiquity as large-scale crystallized sculptures.

The piece is raised by a marble plinth embedded in a marble block with a matching terrazzo flooring border. The black marble is accented by gold and beige from the mirrors and Cypriot olive wood finished with stainless steel rails, that pay tribute to the roots of the owners. Finally, the room is finished with furniture from Driade and Gufram, and custom lighting by design-oriented Italian manufacturer, Artemide, which continues throughout the store.

Leading into the next room are French oak Versailles parquet and polished concrete floors. Carrara book matched marble with two pillars holding a marble medusa head is seen at the rear. Aside from the ancient Greece influence, is an original Andy Warhol mother and child from 1986, an untitled edition from Keith Haring (1987), and a piece from British artist Mr. Jago. Furniture includes a Julep Sofa from Tacchini, Gufram Bocca Sofa by Studio 65, Driade Afrodite Side Table, Cassina LC4 Chaise Longue, Pierre Jeanneret Committee Armchairs, oversize lamps from Anglepoise, lounge chair from Cassina Charlotte Perriand, and Driade Nemo Chairs by Fabio Novembre on the rooftop.

The final room features a Japanese inspiration with Canadian cedar wood contrasted by black resin floor and walls. Located on the third floor, the space features Gufram Snarkitecture Broken Mirrors that make up the doors to hidden changing rooms and a Cactus from Gufram and Toogood Rolypoly Chairs.

The Business Fashion has also outfitted its store with a coffee shop, dubbed “Kafeneo by The Business Fashion.” The polished concrete flooring is paired with three commissioned travertine statues hand-carved by a sculptor based in the region of Italy where Michaelangelo lived and hails from a family that has been doing it for centuries. Other elements include Daniel Arsham’s Tropical Caves of Zeus, 2021, vintage Pierre Jeanneret chairs, and Devialet Phantom Speakers Opéra de Paris. The Brazillian marble counter offers Italian gelato, tea from Mariage Freres, and specialty coffee from Allpress.
