According to reports, following adidasmove to sever ties with Ye and YEEZY, the controversial artist started his search for a new footwear distributor. His early search efforts reportedly landed him at Skechers‘ Manhattan Beach, California headquarters.

Showing up unannounced and uninvited, Ye was believed to be on a mission to meet with executives about a potential partnership between Skechers and YEEZY. Speaking to TMZ, representatives revealed that Ye “arrived unannounced and without invitation at one of Skechers’ corporate offices in Los Angeles. Considering Ye was engaged in unauthorized filming, two Skechers executives escorted him and his party from the building after a brief conversation. Adding that “Skechers is not considering and has no intention of working with West. We condemn his recent divisive remarks and do not tolerate antisemitism or any other form of hate speech. Again, West showed up unannounced and uninvited to Skechers corporate offices.

Following the reports of Ye’s unwelcomed trip to Skecher’s headquarters, he took to Instagram to share a look at his potential plans. In a text message with someone that is believed to be from his legal team, Ye received an outline of the YEEZY trademark he owns and his freedom to design apparel, footwear, and accessories following the split from adidas, while his non-compete agreement with Gap ends December 15, 2022.

Separate reports are also detailing that adidas is set to continue selling previously collaborated products from the YEEZY partnership without YEEZY branding. According to analysts at Morgan Stanley and RBC Capital Markets, the German sportswear company will solely feature its own branding on the designs starting in 2023.
