Cardi B Is First Female Rapper With Two 11x Platinum-Certified Singles
Just in time for her 30th birthday.
Cardi B is celebrating her 30th birthday with an extra treat as she is officially the first female rapper to have two 11x platinum singles.
The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) announced that on October 11 — the rapper’s 30th birthday — Cardi’s hit singles “Bodak Yellow” and “I Like It,” the latter of which features J Balvin and Bad Bunny, have each sold 11 million units in the United States. ”Bodak Yellow” went diamond (10 million units) in March 8, 2021 while “I Like It” was certified on December 13, 2021, but the tracks already held several records prior; the diamond certification of “Bodak Yellow” made her the first female rapper to earn a diamond record and became the first to top the Billboard Hot 100 with a solo effort in 19 years, while “I Like It” made her the first female rapper to earn several No. 1 hits on the Hot 100.
