CamperLab's Eki Takes a Twisted Approach to Formal Footwear

Achilles Ion Gabriel is turning footwear on its head at the experimental label, CamperLab. Following up on the Junction — a formal silhouette that saw its toe dipped in a rainbow of colors — as well as the genderless Kobarah heel, the imprint now delivers another smart offering, but of course, not all is what it seems.

Taking the familiar Eki family, CamperLab serves up a formal style derived from the derby dynasty. Notable from a top-down point of view, the shoe grows asymmetrical shapes to create an angular design, accented by the oversized contrast stitching. Likewise, growths continue to encompass the shoe as the sole unit is served in a bulbous manner, acting as a platform for the upper to rest on.

That upper is made from calfskin leather, offering a softer side to a pair destined for heavy-duty walking. This is because the sole unit is made from thick rubber and the insole is kitted out in recycled Ortholite cushioning for all-day support and comfort.

Coming in either black or burgundy tones, the Eki is complete with a creased stitched vamp leading the eye towards a set of tongue-adorning laces, as well as branding on the insoles and on the outsole.
