Yesterday, Verizon hosted its first ever 5G Ultra Show, a live streamed event that virtually took viewers across the country to demonstrate how Verizon 5G Ultra Wideband is transforming various corners of culture. Hosted by Elizabeth Banks who was joined by CEO Hans Vestberg and other surprise guests, the show honed in on everyday uses for the technology – like streaming, communication and HD audio and video, in addition to illustrating how it will contribute to entertainment, gaming, music and sports. HYPEBEAST rounded up the biggest takeaways from the Verizon 5G Ultra Show.

Gaining Speed

Now more than ever, life and work happen on the go and we rely heavily on our mobile devices to do what we need to do in both our professional and personal lives. Verizon 5G Ultra Wideband caters to this modern day lifestyle with increased speeds and low latency, improving the quality and efficiency of our daily habits like streaming, browsing and staying in touch. With 5G Ultra Wideband, video calls are smoother, the speed of uploading and downloading files is noticeably faster and content is streamed with higher definition audio and visuals.

Gaming Gets Upgraded

Gaming on the go is not a new concept, but doing so with console level quality is. With Verizon 5G Ultra Wideband, mobile gaming is no longer restricted to the processing power of devices by providing near real-time mobile edge compute. For developers, this means the possibilities for graphics and multiplayer action are greater than ever before. Players themselves reap the benefits as well, with high def, immersive visuals no matter where they’re gaming.

It’s For the Fandom

When it comes to sports and music, fans usually engage with their favorite teams and artists in two ways: through streaming or attending a game or concert. 5G Ultra Wideband improves both experiences. In addition to providing HD audio and video — making for ideal conditions when watching a game or listening to an album on the go — the network is built for massive capacity. Connectivity in crowded spaces like stadiums, concert venues and airports is more reliable — so touching base with others or uploading video highlights to social media is noticeably smoother when one is connected to the network.

Creativity Becomes Limitless

Those who operate in a creative realm, such as artists, filmmakers, photographers, editors and producers, rely on more than just their eye and talent. Creative output needs to be supported by technology and 5G Ultra Wideband does just that. Massive files, like movies and images, can be downloaded and uploaded within a matter of minutes. In the film industry, movies can be shot remotely using HD streaming, and effects artists can use edge cloud computing to volumetrically capture actors and render the data in real-time. The technology affects the viewing experience as well, providing higher quality audio and video so the way any piece of art is consumed is enhanced — a benefit for both the artist and the patron.
