Gaming fans will be delighted to learn that Valve is now on track to ship out its highly anticipated Steam Deck on time.

Originally unveiled back in July last year, the new handheld was slated to release by December, with pre-registrations opening to massive popularity. eBay listings popped up almost immediately from scalpers who raised prices as much as $2,500 USD despite the base model going for only $400 USD at retail. To meet the demand for the Steam Deck and suffering from global shipping delays and supply chain issues, Valve unsurprisingly announced that its shipping date would be delayed until late February this year. Luckily for fans, it now seems that the console will be delivered on time.

“We’re on track to ship Steam Deck on time. Global pandemic, supply issues, and shipping issues notwithstanding, it looks like we’ll be able to start getting these out the door by the end of February,” reads a statement from the company. “It’s also important that we give developers the ability to test their games in order to get that nice green Verified check, so we’ve been sending developer kits out in quantity. We’ve been approving another wave of dev kits, and hundreds have been shipped out in the last month (and we’re continuing to approve and send out even more).”

Elsewhere in gaming, Microsoft has completely shut down production for the Xbox One.
