Copenhagen-based label Samsøe Samsøe has followed up its minimalist Pre-Spring 2022 capsule by unveiling the lookbook for its forthcoming Spring/Summer 2022 menswear collection.
Entitled “Chasing the Sun”, the Danish brand’s latest venture sees them journey through a time lapse to touch base with styling from the ‘70s and ‘80s, and present a retro-inspired offering which boasts contemporary prints, nostalgic patterns and updated jacquards.
The prints and colorways evoke ‘70s playfulness, which is realised on shirts, knitted garments, overshirts, wide-legged pants and more. Sun-bleached shades add to the collection’s road-trippy feel, while tailored suiting in wool and structured twill add more formal looks and offer classic ‘80s vibes.
“The collection, for me, is all about explorations, travels and freedom,” explains Gitte Wetter, Samsøe Samsøe Head of Design. “The freedom we’ve all missed the past year, and the travels we will be able to do again so soon. The new relationships we will gain, and the chasing of newness we’ve all longed for. I really wanted to bring across the sense of positivity and the yearning for summer, and with the colours and silhouettes of this collection, I believe we achieved that.”
SS22 has also seen the brand use almost 81% more responsibly-sourced materials, a move a step closer to its 2024 goal of reaching 100% responsible materials across all collections.
“Chasing the Sun” is set to drop on January 13 and will be available via the Samsøe Samsøe webstore.
