After winning four out of five of their most recent games, the Los Angeles Lakers seem to have found their groove, despite key players like Anthony Davis out because of injuries. The team, led by All-Star LeBron James, has continuously put on a show with his recent 30+ points streak in the past 11 games.

James has seeming shown that he is capable of leading the team on the road to the championships, which has now landed him back in the conversation for MVP. In a recent interview, James responded to being back in the running for the title stating,

“If my name continues and my name starts to be in the MVP conversation, then I’m happy about it in the sense that it means the Lakers are winning basketball games. And that’s what I want. That’s all I care about.”

He added, “I know what I bring to the table every night. I know what I’m capable of doing every night. But I want that to result in wins and that’s just always been my mindset in this league.” James now averages 28.5 points per game and understands that in order for him to stay in the conversation as MVP, Lakers must win more games. After Friday’s win against the Atlanta Hawks, the Lakers now hold a 21-19 record, placing them at the sixth seed in the Western Conference meaning that there is still room for them to make a playoff run.

In other sports news, Antonio Brown has been formally released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
