Men’s Milan Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2022 recently wrapped up earlier this week and included big-ticket names like 1017 ALYX 9SM, Fendi, Dolce & Gabbana, and Prada hitting the physical runway. With the pandemic still ongoing, some brands have opted against showing in-person in Milan and have instead chosen to show their collections online. JW Anderson and Giorgio Armani were amongst those that decided on digital shows.

While fashion week has not yet reverted back to normal, those that were able to attend the in-person shows were able to bring the energy and embrace the first European fashion week of the new year. The city of Milan received a boost in drama as showgoers dazzled the streets in eclectic patterns and bold colors. Since January is notoriously cold for men’s fashion week, this season’s street style was informed by comfort-focused pieces in casual-leaning silhouettes. In the past, showgoers opted for slouchy coats, but for this week, many showgoers were partial to boxier cuts for their outerwear.

Milan served vibrantly coordinated layering that saw a monochromatic sweater and overcoat combo in bold orange and a functional fit in multi-shades of bright blue. Mismatched patterns including a plaid cardigan paired with paisley silk pants worked harmoniously to make a statement in the streets of Milan. Of course, being that it was Milan Fashion Week, show-goers repped some of Italy’s largest luxury brands. Prada’s bolo tie made for an eye-catching yet subtle accessory to a comfort-focused ensemble. Fitted outerwear tailoring co-mingled with slouchy, oversized pants which commented on the contemporary ideals of today’s casual, yet structured silhouettes.
