Giving way to three-dimensional exploration.

HOMME PLISSÉ ISSEY MIYAKE proves that pleats are not going away anytime soon with its Fall/Winter 2022 collection. Titled “A WORK OF ARC,” the new collection imparts sculptural design notes on a range of pleated staples.

Inspired by the form of a tent, the label utilizes its adaptable frame as a method of design for the new collection. Movement remains a focal point as tops, bottoms and coats fold and crease just like a tent does — giving way to three-dimensional exploration. By playing with new forms, the collection presents the evolving reality of how staples garments can not only move but rest on the body. The dynamic subtleties of movement and form are brought to life in the collection video directed by Kyotaro Hayashi.

The collection consists of several series that each looks to a different aspect of a tent’s construction. Inspired by a tent’s structure, the ARC series presents a light gray top, a rust-colored jacket and black pants with arched folds and fluid design elements. Taking its inspiration from the bow shape of a tarp, the BOW series features a loose three-dimensional two-piece set in sea moss yellow and other tops in ocean and forest-toned colorways.

Next up is the FLIP COAT in coral, olive green and chalk colorways that can be transformed from a coat into a light jacket. For another outerwear offering, the FRAME COAT series features a padded and matte-textured fabric construction in jade green and toffee brown. The MONTHLY COLOR SEPTEMBER series is an outerwear highlight with a triangular three-dimensional form that creates a voluminous silhouette.

Another standout offering from the collection is the LANTERN series that invokes the glowing light of a lantern that seeps through a tent. The series presents multicolored print designs in turquoise, rust, gray, muted yellow and black on cardigans, pants and an eye-catching triangular coat.  Rounding out the offering is the DECK’N COURT collaborative shoe series between HOMME PLISSÉ ISSEY MIYAKE and WAKOUWA. The low-top silhouettes come in crisp white and brown colorways with subtle piping detailing.
