Hublot Drops Big Bang Unico Berluti Aluminio
French brand has created a leather dial, bezel and strap for the Swiss limited edition.
While the name might suggest aluminum, the latest watch to result from Hublot’s partnership with Berluti brings together titanium and leather for a new limited edition.
The 44mm Big Bang Unico Berluti Aluminio uses Berluti’s patinated Venezia leather on its new polished titanium bezel and dial, with the Swiss Made lettering being “gauffered” directly onto the leather, before being sealed between two layers of sapphire crystal. Aluminio refers to the signature Berluti patina that has been used for this piece.
The polished bezel is a new design for Hublot, with its leather insert held in place by resin, before being screwed down into the case. The construction leaves the leather exposed, which will allow it to develop its own patina over time unlike the leather of the dial which has been fixed.
A cut-out in the leather dial also reveals the beating escapement of the Unico automatic flyback chronograph movement.
The 100-piece limited edition is supplied with a burnished Aluminio Venezia leather strap, while a version with a Scritto motif is available exclusively in Japan. The watch is presented with a travel pouch and Berluti shoehorn keyring.
The Big Bang Unico Berluti Aluminio is available now via Hublot, priced $25,200 USD.
Elsewhere in watches, Rolex makes a rare statement regarding the scarcity of its watches.
