The Weeknd Debuts Brand New Single "Take My Breath"
The beginning of a new era.
The Weeknd is kicking off his brand new era with the release of “Take My Breath.”
Clocking in at almost four minutes, the single is almost a fusion of his After Hours sound and the days of disco, and arrives with an accompanying music video (with an epilepsy warning). Sporting an all-black outfit with a matching leather coat, Abel finds himself in an energetic club and goes on an adventure with a woman who is determined to keep him there.
The XO Records head teased the single on social media after clearing out his Instagram completely, also tweeting, “f*ck it … IT STARTS TONIGHT.” The theme of the dawn rising marks the end of his After Hours era, which he officially announced during his 2021 iHeartRadio Music Awards acceptance speech. “Like I said before, the After Hours are done and the dawn is coming,” he said.
