Nike Drenches the ISPA Drifter in Indigo Dye
The indigo is cultivated and harvested by the BUAISOU group who’s based in Japan’s Tokushima Prefecture.

In 2020, Nike and its forward-thinking ISPA division introduced a handful of striking footwear silhouettes to the footwear scene. One of those was the Nike ISPA Drifter — a mid-cut model that draws inspiration from the traditional Japanese tabi shoe. Since its debut, it hasn’t seen all that much action, but that will soon change as the silhouette has just emerged with an “Indigo” makeover.
This unique iteration is covered in its titular hue from the top to the mid-foot. The indigo dye that’s utilized here is cultivated and harvested by BUAISOU — a group that specializes in indigo-crafting that’s based in Japan’s Tokushima Prefecture. Due to the fact that the indigo dyeing process is done entirely by hand, no two pairs will bear the same shadings or patterns. In addition the its dark blue exterior, there are cross-like shapes that are embroidered into its upper layer. The pair shown above shows them off atop the throat, mid-foot and heels. White paint drops off on the ISPA-branded tongue and heel tabs, and the outsoles and deteriorating midsole molds are dyed with a plum-like tone.
Nike Japan is dropping these special Nike ISPA Drifters on August 30 for ¥60,500 (approx. $551 USD).
