New York Fashion Week Announces It Will Only Allow Vaccinated Guests To Attend Shows
Proof of vaccination will be required.
This year’s New York Fashion Week is upping its exclusivity as the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) has worked together with IMG to ensure that only those who are vaccinated will be able to attend the highly-coveted event.
Anyone attending the shows will be required to show proof of vaccination and guests under the age of 16 will only be allowed in the show with a negative COVID-19 test result. A spokesperson working closely with the NYFW schedule told Business of Fashion, “Together, we encourage the broader industry to follow suit and protect the wellbeing of our fashion community this September. We will closely follow updates and recommendations from the CDC, New York State and City, releasing comprehensive health and safety guidelines in mid-August.”
In a memo from IMG to designers planning to show at NYFW, it read, “Strict compliance will be enforced with admittance denied for non-compliance, subject to state and federal law.” IMG has stressed to designers that they will be solely responsible for enforcing the rules. So far, the designers showing in New York this coming fashion week include, Rodarte, Moschino, Tom Ford, Ulla Johnson, and Peter Do.
New York Fashion Week is set to run between September 8 and September 12.
