The New Balance 990v2 Arrives in Lively "Grey/Green"
A colorful, made in the USA iteration of the classic runner.
After serving as the centerpiece of a WTAPS collaboration and taking part in the “Version Series” in recent months, New Balance‘s 990v2 is back with a new “Grey/Green” colorway. Combining an ultra-premium made in the USA construction with a more lively than usual color scheme, the “Grey/Green” is an appealing autumn footwear option for NB nuts.
Its midfoot is all classic New Balance, with grey suede overlaying slightly lighter grey mesh. However, pops of vibrance are quick to arrive thanks to berry-colored detailing on the midfoot’s N logo and the tongue alike. An oceanic blue-green suede takes up residence on the heel, and a dash of tan suede appears on the mudguard. Slight touches of tan are worked in on the top of the heel and the toebox, and a pinch of light blue appears above the mudguard.
Black text on the tongue nods to the shoe’s made in the USA construction, as does a simple “USA” spellout on the heel. Down below, cream and white ABZORB midsoles with touches of blue on the heel round off the look. Although Teddy Santis, who was named the creative director of New Balance MADE back in April, won’t release a New Balance MADE collection until 2022, it’s worth noting that the “Grey/Green” assemblage of tones looks very much like something his brand Aimé Leon Dore would produce.
The New Balance 990v2 “Grey/Green” is available now via the Sneaker Politics webstore. Its MSRP is set at $175 USD.
