Birkenstock and Proenza Schouler Serve up Polished Unisex Capsule
Specchio calf leather in “Cobalt Blue”, “Rustic Luggage Burgundy”, black or ecru.
Birkenstock’s ongoing collaboration with Proenza Schouler continues this season as the pair reimagine styles from the former’s extensive archive in a variety of bold new colorways.
The New York-based womenswear brand — which was founded in 2002 by Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez — is renowned for the way it uses vibrant hues in each of its collections and is something the ready-to-wear label has called upon for this latest release.
Inspired by a combination of utilitarian workwear and athletic footwear, Arizona and Milano silhouettes are executed in polished, specchio calf leather, with a hook-and-loop closure replacing the archetypal hardware buckles, and a contrasting top-stitching rounding things out. “Cobalt Blue”, “Rustic Luggage Burgundy”, black and ecru make up the collection’s pallete, a transitional color range allowing the wearer to be comfortable from late summer to early fall.
The full Birkenstock x Proenza Schouler capsule is set to drop on August 6 and will be available from the Proenza Shouler webstore.
In other news, Shaka has dropped a sandal collection featuring a mix of bold prints and muted tones for SS21.
