Birkenstock has introduced shearling versions of the Amsterdam Wrapped and the Santa Clarita, two closed-toe styles built for the colder months. Both are finished in a Gray Taupe lambskin shearling and rest on the anatomically shaped cork footbed that underpins the brand’s catalog.
The Amsterdam Wrapped is defined by its construction. Building on the pared-back Amsterdam, it uses a single continuous upper that extends along both sides and curves around the heel, giving the shoe a secure hold without extra straps or panels. The design has become one of the season’s standout releases and has built a global following since its debut. This edition renders that wraparound shape in plush lambskin shearling, adding warmth and texture while keeping the profile clean.
The Santa Clarita takes a softer, more feminine direction. Shaped as a Mary Jane, it features a rounded toe and a slender strap across the instep, fastened with a closure that draws on Birkenstock’s classic D-buckle. Beyond its visual role, the strap locks the foot in place for a snug fit. The lambskin shearling upper brings natural insulation and helps wick away moisture, and the shoe is produced in Portugal.
Underfoot, both styles share the same foundation. Each is built on Birkenstock’s contoured footbed made from a natural cork and rubber blend, a renewable material that insulates and absorbs shock. The footbed is made in Germany and topped with a suede leather insole, and on the Santa Clarita it can be removed. An EVA outsole finishes both pairs, keeping them lightweight and cushioned on uneven ground.
Both models are offered in regular and narrow widths, with the Amsterdam Wrapped available in a broader unisex size run than the Santa Clarita.
