Subway Is Giving Out One Million Free Sandwiches Ahead of Its Menu Overhaul
Stores are closing early to prepare.

Subway is planning its largest menu update in history and is giving away one million sandwiches in celebration.
The sandwich chain announced the planned menu changes in a statement on Tuesday, saying that it would be “making improvements to almost every core menu item and introducing important digital upgrades that elevate the guest experience.”
In preparation for the changes, restaurants will close nationwide on July 12 at 6 p.m. The new menu, titled “The Eat Fresh Refresh,” will be rolled out across stores on July 13, and includes over 20 new menu updates.
In total, 11 new ingredients, six all-new or returning sandwiches, and four revamped signature sandwiches will be introduced. In addition, the new menu will feature two all new fresh-baked breads — Artisan Italian and Hearty Multigrain — which the chain says it developed alongside a panel of world-class bakers over two years.
Up to one million free six-inch Turkey Cali Fresh sandwiches will be doled out from 10 a.m. to noon local time across participating stores upon request.
In other news, Subway has responded to reports that its tuna sub does not contain “amplifiable tuna DNA.”
