UNDONE X STAPLE Yin-Yang Collection Offers a Strap For Every Style
The collaboration also reveals a host of fine detail Easter eggs.
Hong Kong-based watch brand UNDONE has created a watch with New York streetwear legend Jeff Staple’s brand, Staple Pigeon.
Using the designer’s Staple Pigeon motif to create a Yin-Yang design on the dial, the satin-finished black PVD 40mm watch head forms the basis of a collection, based around four interchangeable straps, which are available across a number of different sets.
The theme of harmony and wellbeing is reinforced with Staple’s motto “A Positive Social Contagion” etched into the watch’s bezel, words which resonate even more today than they have in the past, while the numbers 75 and 97 on the opposite side of the bezel represent the year of Staple’s birth and the foundation of Staple Pigeon.
Staple also plays with the duality inherent in the symbol. The first six hour markers are formed using Arabic numerals while the latter six are represented by dots. Two colors of luminous material have also been used; with the white pigeon head and hour markers formed of blue lume while the deep pink hands are coated in green lume.
This shade of Pigeon Pink is also found on the reverse, where a tinted glass caseback features the Staple logo and reveals the watch’s Seiko TMI NH35A automatic movement with 42 hours of power reserve.
The most exclusive set is the UNDONE x STAPLE Yin-Yang Limited Edition, which is limited to 300 pieces and features a matching black steel bracelet, a Staple Pigeon-branded NATO strap and a carabiner key chain for $649 USD.
The UNDONE x STAPLE Yin-Yang Leather presents the watch on a custom black leather strap with Pigeon Pink stitching while a third set, UNDONE x STAPLE Yin-Yang Nato, sees the watch on a black nylon NATO strap with pigeon head Yin-Yang and Staple logo. Both of these sets are priced $519 USD.
The custom NATO strap is also available for purchase separately at $39 USD with an UNDONE x STAPLE watch, or for $75 as a standalone strap. The UNDONE x STAPLE collection drops later today via both UNDONE and Staple Pigeon.
