Gucci Launches $420 USD Rubber Mules
Could they step on Birkenstock’s heels this summer?

Gucci is getting in on the laidback summer slip-on vibe with its all-new rubber mules, which are undoubtedly a nod to the likes of Crocs and Birkenstock‘s pairs.
The Alessandro Michele-helmed label has captured this seasonal look in an all-rubber make-up in shades of black, red, and bright blue. The rubber is actually perforated to give it a pebbled texture, which at first glance could be mistaken for premium leather, and this is then contrasted by smooth details that run around the perimeter of the slip-on’s opening. Working its way over the foot covering is Gucci’s emblematic interlocking “GG” logo that’s been carved out of the rubber, giving you Gucci-shaped peepholes to see your socks worn within the mule.
Elsewhere, we find a tonal sole unit that’s stitched around the top and, for the sole, has been given a heavy tread. The deep nodules give the slip-ons a formal look that’s often found throughout Gucci’s footwear line, while Gucci branding on the outsole and the footbed rounds out the pair.
Gucci’s slip-on sandals retail for $420 USD and can be bought on the Gucci website or at its boutiques worldwide now.
