Square Enix Follows up 'Marvel's Avengers' With New 'Guardians of the Galaxy' Game
Become Starlord as you traverse the universe.
Square Enix has just dropped the first trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy over at E3.
Similar to Marvel’s Avengers, the new Guardians game will also be a third-person action-adventure title, this time focusing on the squad of misfit heroes fans are familiar with and love from the MCU. You’ll take on the role of Starlord aka Peter Quill, fighting alongside Gamora, Drax, Rocket Raccoon and Groot. Unlike their cinematic representations, however, the game will offer a whole new original storyline and follow the gang just one year after they came together.
Guardians of the Galaxy was originally announced back in 2017 and is being developed by Eidos Montreal, the studio behind Shadow of the Tomb Raider, two Deus Ex titles, as well as Human Revolution and Mankind Divided. It also helped Crystal Dynamics in developing Marvel’s Avengers, the first of many other Marvel-based titles to come following a partnership deal signed back in 2017 between the comic book company and Square Enix.
For the Marvel fans out there, Guardians of the Galaxy will arrive on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PC on October 26.
In other related news, the Japanese publisher has dropped the first trailer for the Black Panther: War for Wakanda expansion for Marvel’s Avengers.
