'Space Jam: A New Legacy' Unveils New Promotional Poster

Along with the announcement of the film’s next trailer.

Space Jam: A New Legacy shared a new promotional poster to its official Twitter account on Tuesday morning, roughly one month ahead of the film’s eagerly-awaited premiere. Along with the new imagery, the Warner Bros. film also announced that a new trailer will arrive on Wednesday.

“The Tune Squad and LeBron James team up to reach new heights in Space Jam: A New Legacy,” the tweet reads. “The second trailer drops tomorrow!”

The fresh poster provides another look at all of the members of the Tune Squad; however, none of the villainous Goon Squad members are pictured. While details on the antagonizing basketball team’s conception still remain a mystery, the film previously announced that Avengers: Endgame actor Don Cheadle will play a character named AI G Rhythm, the leader of James’ opponents.

“What was pitched to me, what they wanted to do with my character, what was going to happen with LeBron, the conceit of the film and the opportunity to take a classic title like that and do another spin on it with the latest GOAT, being LeBron, I just thought, ‘Hey, this is cool,’” Cheadle told Entertainment Weekly of his decision to take on the role. “To get to play this really innovative character, which I don’t even know how much I can talk about, or what you know. But I just thought it was going to be a cool family story with LeBron and a cool character to play opposite him.”

The first trailer, released in April, saw James and his in-movie son, Dom, sucked into an alternate universe where Cheadle’s evil character challenges the pair to a basketball game, which they must win in order to escape. The following scenes mimic the plot of the original film, as James trains with the Tune Squad in preparation for the final showdown. The newly announced trailer will likely provide further insight on what to expect from the plot and clarity regarding the Goon Squad’s origin.

Space Jam: A New Legacy will hit theaters and HBO Max on July 16.

Warner Bros. also debuted a merchandise campaign for the upcoming flick with Nike and Converse. Take a look at the film’s newly revealed footwear and apparel collection.
