Virgil Abloh‘s Louis Vuitton Fall/Winter 2021 presentation was one of the designer’s most dramatic yet, and now we’ve been given a closer, behind-the-scenes look at how the show and the collection came together.

In the video titled Monologue 6, Abloh and his team are seen working, creating, and discussing everything that went into the “Ebonics / Snake Oil / The Black Box / Mirror, Mirror” collection. It’s somewhere in between an inner monologue and “a day in the life of Virgil Abloh,” following him around the LV office as he regales profound analogies, edits pieces, and at the same time, provides us with text that appears on the screen acting as his inner monologue.

It’s split into sections, notably kicking in after 2 minutes and 14 seconds with “Cowboy Boots.” One of the stars of this upcoming season, we see Abloh’s inner monologue meet real voice-overs and footage, describing how if the boot was wider it could be “more angular and then it gets into a different language.”

Wanting to “try this language in the back,” Abloh is seen sketching out a new design before taking a pair of scissors to the boot, and then shooting them for the lookbook. The video continues and becomes more of a BTS-style campaign, showing how the FW21 collection was made using a number of creatives, coming together to adapt each piece under Abloh’s forever-evolving vision.
