Originally released back in 1998, Junji Ito’s horror manga Uzumaki is transforming into a four-part anime series by Adult Swim.

Known as one of the most admired horror manga artists, Ito narrates a story of a supernatural curse involving spirals that plague the residents of a fictional city called Kurouzu-cho. The manga is illustrated in black and white with the animated series transferring the artworks from paper to the screen.

Adult Swim posted a video on its YouTube channel which opens up with director Hiroshi Nagahama breaking down the momentum of the adaptation as well as asking fans to kindly buff up more patience as the release has been pushed back to a more attainable timeframe. The trailer itself begins around the 1:30 minute mark.

The new Uzumaki animated series is set to debut on Adult Swim in October 2022.
