Shawn Stussy has just shared a special varsity jacket on his personal vintage store. Not only is the piece of clothing a coveted International Stüssy Tribe varsity jacket, but it was one that was intended for the legendary New York artist Keith Haring.
Made as a gift in 1989, Shawn Stussy writes that the jacket was to be delivered in the spring of 1990 during his next trip (at the time) to NYC. Unfortunately, the artist passed the same year which saddened Stussy, forcing him to store the jacket until now. The description, written by Stussy, also reads, “…this one is very unique and the price reflects this… let me make it very clear, this was never Keith’s jacket, just a feel good gift that never made it to its destination…size large, made in the USA.”
Priced at $5,000 USD, the varsity has already sold, but regardless, we’re glad Shawn dug up this streetwear/art/cultural artifact.
