This time around, regardless of how blighted the 2020 Tokyo Olympics have been, SEGA is releasing an official Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 video game. It just wouldn’t feel like an Olympic year without this video game, and now, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Steam and Google Stadia players can get in on the action before the first medals are handed out in Tokyo on July 23.
“The Olympic Games are a unifying symbol of sportsmanship and competition for athletes and fans throughout the world,” said Ian Curran, President & COO at SEGA of America. “Tokyo 2020 channels that positive spirit into a fun, arcade-style experience for friends and family to play together as we all look forward to the start of the Olympic Games this Summer.”
The game features 18 different solo or multiplayer Olympic games like 100m, 110m Hurdles, Hammer Throw, Baseball, Long Jump, Basketball, Beach Volleyball, Boxing, Judo, BMX, 100m Freestyle Swimming, and Table Tennis, to name a few. What’s more, is that players will be able to create a custom athlete where they can compete in the game to become the ultimate Olympian — all on modes like eight-player multiplayer, ranked games, and global challenges.
Those interested can look for this title to drop on June 22 for $39.99 USD. Head over to SEGA’s dedicated site for more info.
