Watch Dev Patel in the New Trailer for A24's 'The Green Knight'
Set to release in theaters on July 30.
David Lowery directed A24 medieval fantasy story, The Green Knight has officially dropped its official trailer. The film stars Dev Patel who plays Sir Gawain, King Arthur’s nephew and was set to make its global debut at the 2020 South by Southwest festival. Unfortunately, much like many other events around the world, the film’s premiere plans were pushed back until this summer.
Patel is seen alongside cast, Alicia Vikander, Joel Edgerton, Sean Harris, Sarita Choudhury, and Kate Dickie. A24’s official synopsis of the film reads, “An epic fantasy adventure based on the timeless Arthurian legend, The Green Knight tells the story of Sir Gawain (Dev Patel), King Arthur’s reckless and headstrong nephew, who embarks on a daring quest to confront the eponymous Green Knight, a gigantic emerald-skinned stranger and tester of men. Gawain contends with ghosts, giants, thieves, and schemers in what becomes a deeper journey to define his character and prove his worth in the eyes of his family and kingdom by facing the ultimate challenger. From visionary filmmaker David Lowery comes a fresh and bold spin on a classic tale from the knights of the round table.”
Director Lowery explained in an A24 podcast interview last year that the version of The Green Knight that would have been shown at SXSW last year, was in fact no the final cut. Lowery previously worked on other projects with A24, including supernatural drama, A Ghost Story which starred Casey Affleck and Rooney Mara.
The Green Knight is set to release in theaters on July 30, 2021.
