Bugatti's "Les Légendes du Ciel" Edition Chiron Sport Takes on the Dassault Rafael Marine Fighter Jet in a Runway Showdown

In a video of spectacular visuals, Bugatti has now put its aviation-inspired limited-edition Chiron Sport to the ultimate test, pitting the massive 1,500-horsepower W16 engine against all 5,648 horsepower of thrust from the French Navy’s Dassault Rafale Marine fighter jet in a sprint race down the runway of the Landivisiau Naval Air Base in northwest France.
Dubbed “Les Légendes du Ciel” — or “Legends of the Sky” — the special edition Chiron Sport was first unveiled back in November last year as a tribute to both its own aviation heritage and that of some of the automaker’s racers over the decades. Only 20 of them will be built, each going for a staggering $3.41 million USD.
“Many successful Bugatti racing drivers, such as Albert Divo, Robert Benoist and Bartolomeo ‘Meo’ Costantini, flew for the French Air Force,” Bugatti’s CEO Stephan Winkelmann remarked at the time. “It is therefore almost an obligation for us today to pay tribute to the legends of that time and dedicate a special edition to them.”
