'Midsommar' Meets 'The Texas Chain Saw Massacre' in Netflix's 'A Classic Horror Story'
The Italian horror puts a new twist on classic tropes.
Netflix has just dropped the first teaser for A Classic Horror Story, an upcoming Italian horror described by the streaming giant as Midsommar meets The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.
Directed by young Italian duo Roberto De Feo and Paolo Strippoli, the upcoming horror picture follows five strangers who carpool in a motorhome in order to reach a common destination. As night falls, they drive upon a dead animal carcass and swerve to avoid hitting it, ending up crashing into a tree. As they regain consciousness, they find themselves out among a dense forest, with a wooden house sitting in the center of a clearing. The five soon discover that the house is home to a nefarious cult, set on haunting the group.
Join De Feo and Strippoli are cast members Francesco Russo, Peppino Mazzotta, Yulia Sobol, Will Merrick, Alida Baldari Calabria, Cristina Donadio, and Matilda Lutz, as well as writers Lucio Besana, Milo Tissone and David Bellini.
A Classic Horror Story will arrive on Netflix globally July 14.
Elsewhere in entertainment, Henry Cavill will star in Chad Stahelski’s Highlander reboot.
